Emily Hays -founder

In early 2010, Emily embarked on her first trip to Haiti and was forever marked by the joy she witnessed in the midst of deep poverty. God broke her heart but she was unsure of the next step. A friend from church began telling Emily and her husband about children in Haiti who had been left behind by the educational system. Shortly after, she helped to start One 17 International to serve those left behind. It was during a One 17 trip that she met Nadege, causing her heart to break deeply for survivors of sexual violence in Haiti. This prompted her and a few others to found Nadege in order to restore hope to these women and ultimately change a culture in Haiti. Emily holds a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. In her free time, she is an aspiring foodie and loves to go on random adventures with her sweet husband. They are in the process of adopting their first child from Haiti.

Beth traveled to Haiti in 2014 with Emily and her team to begin discovering the restorative work that Nadege is investing in. Beth is deeply committed to social justice and issues of mental health and women's rights, and has worked for many years in Kolkata, India among women sold into prostitution.  She is passionate about self care, and lives what she preaches by backpacking and camping to clear her heart and mind.  She is thrilled to be a part of Nadege's voice of HOPE in Haiti and the women living there.
